Shaykh Mohammed Mahmoud
Senior Islamic Scholar & Experienced Umrah Guide
Shaykh Mohammed Mahmoud is a respected Islamic scholar known for his deep commitment to religious education, spiritual development, and heartfelt service to the Muslim community.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from University College London (UCL) and completed his formal Islamic studies in the UK, earning a Diploma in Shari’ah from the European Institute of Human Sciences. He has received ijazah (traditional scholarly authorisation) in multiple Islamic sciences, including:
- Qur’anic Studies
- Hadith
- Fiqh
- Aqeedah
- Usul al-Fiqh
- Tazkiyyah
- Arabic Grammar
Shaykh Mohammed served as Imam of the Muslim Welfare House in Finsbury Park for seven years, and later as Senior Imam at the East London Mosque from 2018 to 2023.
He continues to deliver Friday sermons, teach weekly Islamic classes, offer personal counselling, and lead spiritual development (tarbiyah) sessions.
Shaykh Mohammed founded the Salik Society, a learning platform that focuses on reconnecting individuals with the traditional Islamic sciences and personal tazkiyah—purification of the self—in a practical and accessible manner.
Since 2019, Shaykh Mohammed has been a regular guide for Dome Tours, accompanying groups on both the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages. Having led numerous journeys, he has become a trusted name for those seeking more than just the outward rites—pilgrims benefit from his unique ability to combine sacred knowledge with deep spiritual insight.
